I received a call from the Stoma nurse today to check on the rescheduled date for my Iz’s surgery (This isn’t through yet). Iz has been experiencing some unexpected mucus poops since before Christmas, which I found concerning. Due to her condition, all waste comes out of her stoma, so any bowel movements are significant. After her second surgery, we were surprised by a little poop, which turned out to be old waste from birth. The recent poops have been larger and more mucus, but this is a normal occurrence as mucus helps lubricate the bowel. The fact that Iz could feel the poop coming is a good sign for the future and potentially indicates some level of continence after her surgery. It may seem odd to be excited about poop, but for us, this is a positive step towards our ultimate goal of improving Iz’s quality of life.
No Really…
I need a new bum; a designer bum; one that I can poop from, that kind of bum!
This is not in any way related to the books, this is just my story about my journey with my baby girl and her designer butt!
